My first Lamp

So here it the very first "Lamp" that I have ever made in my life. As apposed to the "accent lamps" I've made, this one will light up a room. I'm very happy with it. I'll be making many more with different wine bottles and liquor bottles over the next few weeks. This is because, well besides my new interest in selling upcycled lamps, in December I will have a table at my town's Holiday Craft Fare and all that you see here will be there for sale. I'm so excited, but I have SOOOOO much work a head of me. Time to crack down on lamp time!

Witch's Wine

OK, I have no clue as to what is going on... all images are posting sideways and I don't seem to have control over that... boooooo so here is my Witch's bottle. The photo shows a bit more "pink" then it really is, it does glow a soft purple and orange. Perfect for a Halloween party!

Have I told you yet how much I love me some Rum? FORGET ABOUT IT! Coconut Rum & 7 was MY drink back in college.... Thanks to my big sister in my Sorority... BUT I rediscovered Rum a few months ago after a long 10 year hiatus... I bought this bottle because I loved the Rum, how little did I know it would ROCK as a light... I made this one with one of those "Christmas Light up Houses" light... So it only has one lamp installed in the back... I love how it glows! I added some twine to cover up the glaring lamp and to cover all the extra wording... I love how it came out and I will be making many more !

And I have no clue as to why it's sideways... sad... but there it is....

The Halloween Set

Here is my finished Sangria Jug Halloween set. How sweet are they? I will totally make more, but maybe wait till next year... that is unless someone requested them.... My faves, in order are Frank, Pumpkin, Ghost.... I'll light them closer to Halloween.

Painted and Wrapped

Here is the finished product of my painted and wrapped test bottle. I TOTALLY LOVE it. I'm not diggin my scrappy photography... This is what I get for photographing a bottle, white on white, after finishing off a bottle... and I'm not talking about finishing off making a bottle ;)

I'm thinking blue twine! Time to paint more bottles...

Bottle Love

I LOVE these bottles, they make my heat sing... now what to do with them?

White Bottles...

I had this grand vision, I've been having a lot of those these days, HA!. I would paint a bottle white and use them as accent pieces and not lamps. I could add twine, raised lettering, colored patterns... the styles can be endless.... so I grabbed a bottle I had cracked while drilling a hole in it for a light fixture, and thought well, if I mess it up it's ok, it's a broken bottle anyway.

So I stuck the bottle on a stick from the back yard and propped it up in the garage... and let the hysterics begin... 1st lesson learned... even if you put down news paper, put down more, you never can have enough (or you will have square-ish shapes all around the ground, or garage floor). 2nd lesson... do not wear black pants and boots when spray painting with white paint! 3rd lesson learned... just because your impatient to see how your new idea will look, you must put light coats of paint and then let them DRY! LOL I was like, more paint, more paint, more... crap! 4th and most important lesson learned... COVER YOUR MOTORCYCLE BEFORE USING SPRAY PAINT !!!! LOL I crack myself up.

So I sprayed, a little too much, but it was painted. I waited until the next day to check it out. and this (below) is how it came out. I LOVE it. Forget the few drips and crack it's PERFECT. Now what to do with it?

Moroccan Lamp Test

OK, so I had this grand idea to turn bottles in to Moroccan lamps... here was my first try... I think I know where it went wrong and where it went right.... but I do need to figure out a way to make the Red glass color stronger... Next I'll try with blue...

Wrapped Sets Look Great

Here is a set of wrapped bottles. They look so cute together. I can totally see this in a Lake House. I had some issues with the learning curve of wrapping slopped sections, but I figured it out, and now I am looking all over for different sized bottles to wrap up! I have some color ideas for this too. I'm excited!

Grapes

Grapes with frosted glass bottle. This style also comes with a dark green glass with purple grapes....

Wrapped

I was totally inspired by a photo I found on line of random things in the house wrapped in found items, like twine and rope etc... and here is my first creation... and believe you me, I have many different styles inspired off of this... I can't wait!

Painted Halloween Jugs

I made these two and I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE them... I'm thinking of making a 3rd as a ghost... I don't know if this could be a sales item... that's a lot of Sangria !!!! And I'm not the best painter, so duplicating this may be a bit difficult ! LOL but I thought I would post them and share :)
Oh and because I'm crazy like that, they will light up too!

Spiders!!!

SPIDERS!!!! EAK!!!!! Sometimes I see this out the corner of my eye and I totally freak out.... I absolutely hate spiders! But then after I gather myself up off the floor, I remember how fricken cute the little guys are crawling around the bottle...

These bottles have a 30light LED Orange string of lights installed through a hole in the bottom of the back of the bottle. They are great accent pieces on a kitchen counter or any where in the house. (indoor use only).

Spider Web

I love how simple this spider web bottle came out... I have 2 in stock, and I can make one more.

Mariachi Skeletons

Here was a really fun Halloween Bottle... I found this set of three little Mariachi Band Skeletons in the craft store and I knew I just HAD to have them for a bottle... I also used an orange and purple LED light string instead of the standard Christmas lights. The color is more intense and vibrant, very fun, and on a positive note they give off little to no heat (which is great in my book). I had two in stock and they sold in under 22 minutes of posting them on line !!!! I can make up to 2 more if anyone is interested.

It's Halloween Time

So it's almost Halloween and I thought... hey how about a Halloween themed bottle? I found these fun skeletons at the local craft store and went to work. I strung the little guy around the bottle and Tadaaaa... ok not the most elaborate design, but heck it worked... I'm thinking of adding some more black and green wrap around the neck of the bottle and maybe some more strings hanging down...

Pretty Pink Glass

I had this glass bottle for about 1 week, fell in love with its color and the frosted flower that is on it. I installed a light string and plugged it in. WOW what an amazing pink glow. I posted it up on Facebook and in under an hour a friend of mine wanted to purchase it. I was happy and sad all at the same time. I had no intention of selling it, but what can you do... if it can bring joy to someone then I'll let it go... heck I can always get another pink vodka bottle !

SOLD

Green Bottles

Here is another fun whiskey bottle. This one gives off a warm glow, from the green glass and the yellowish label.

Vodka Anyone?

Here is a simple vodka bottle lit up with lights... I like it, it's fun... Maybe I can get red lights? That might help it POP a bit more...

More Then One Is Fun

How fun are they all lined up together! This makes me want to build a bar in my basement and have friends over just to look at the pretty lights... OK we can all say it together now... yes I am a dork... but it's the little things in life that make me happy...

A Little Light Comfort

I received this bottle of whiskey from a friend to make in to a lamp. I like how the lines in the glass throw the light in patterns. It gives off a soft glow and would look great on any bar or kitchen counter.

Coronita Tea Light Set

I was planning on having a few friends over for some BBQ and drinks one night this summer... and a thought came to my mind... why not make some accent lights for around the deck out of Corna bottles ! While Corona bottles are nice, they are large... and I wanted something a little smaller and wouldn't you know I found MINI Corona's ! I removed the bottom of the bottle and placed them over a battery operated tea light. Tadaaa ! I love this idea and it's sooo simple.

A Local Vineyard

Here is a wine bottle from a local New Jersey Vineyard. I love how the dark glass glows with the little lights.

Grapes

So here is my first attempt at a light up wine bottle using "Christmas Lights". I love this, I think I love everything about it. Except for the HUGE crack I made up the back of the bottle while trying to drill the hole for the power cord... oops! But it's OK, I like it so much I don't really want to sell this one anyway... However I will be making more, some like this one and some with dark green or brown glass with red/purple grapes.

My First Accent Wine Bottle Lamp

So I had this grand vision of lopping off the bottoms of wine bottles, hanging a candle inside them, and then selling them as hanging lanterns for outside patios and decks and the like... Then a good friend brought to my attention the dangers of fire.... and well she was right, I do not want to be responsible for setting something a blaze because it was hung improperly or maybe a little too close to something flammable. Sooo I altered my idea, and to be honest, I'm actually very happy with all the other ideas and creativity that has come from trying to light a glass bottle w/o fire.

So here was my first hanging glass bottle lantern, and quite possibly my last. But we'll see, there are battery operated tea lights so you never know...

The Wine Bottle Project.

Hi everyone, I know I started this blog a long time ago... it was mainly going to be for my photography business, however I've mostly been using Facebook over the last few years for that. But I have a new venture in my business and I'd like to come back here and take advantage of my own "website" for my bottle lamps.

Hope you enjoy them, and if you are interested in purchasing any of them please email me.
